Snow shower led to chaos in most of the UK, with flights being cancelled, delays announced and roads blocked with traffic. Less than an inch falls caused cancellation and delays in the railway transport. With 40 flights cancelled, frost and ice leading to traffic chaos in Kent, the winter weather definitely caught Britain.

Forecasts raised the alarm of cold weather and brief snow showers hitting the country with temperatures falling below -8 degrees.

South West Trains rail services warned passengers to travel only when necessary. Winter comes every year, it is surprising how council chiefs fail to respond as fast as desired, which leads to angering commuters when road and rail delays occur.

Forecasters say that another snow shower is expected today with snow turning into rain. The Met Office warns of an inch of snow across Scotland.

Whatever the weather, keep your sunshine with you. But make sure you check the forecast to avoid gridlocks and to plan your trip in the most convenient and trouble-free way.
