Cleaning Trends: We Are Cleaning 22% Less Often

On January 11th, 2012 By

How often do we clean? Survey results reveal we tend to clean 22% less often, and the trend is for cleaning to be done more regularly by professionals, instead of housewives.

When checking on the web how often people clean, they all claim to do it daily, using smart and green cleaning products, as not cleaning regularly, at least weekly, is a sign of bad hygiene. Furthermore, as more people will clean only when dirt is present and there are signs of grime building up, this means that cleaning is getting neglected, or is possible done once in a while, of course, we hope not once in a blue moon. Because of this, cleaning companies gain more ground and professional cleaners are more and more in number and providing any domestic services you may think of, or won’t even cross your mind.

According to The British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) people with OCD are among the clean freaks as cleaning is a compulsion for them. Revealing anxiety through cleaning used to be the work out of most housewives, but now there is gym, fitness and many other  sources of entertainment, so many prefer to have fun outdoors, doing more pleasurable things than cleaning.

Cleaning 22% less often may result in cleaners having to deal with 22% higher workload, at least, good news for the business.
