Tower Hamlets borough£800,000 cash will be spent on cleaning the streets of Tower Hamlets. This became clear in the beginning of March.

Despite the claims that the area is thoroughly cleaned or at least 97% of it, the necessity of additional clean up occurs. Tower Hamlets is an area which has to deal with fly tipping and dirty streets very often. The good news is that £70 000 were planned to be spend to “educate” the residents of the area how to deal with their rubbish and correspondingly how to keep the streets junk free.

Labour’s spokesperson wanted to know why the Tower Hamlets Council is spending so much money to clean the streets of the borough. Mayor Lutfur Rahman said that the biggest part of the area is thoroughly clean and this created discontent among the people. As an answer, the spokesperson of the council mentioned about the Clean British Awards which gave four star rating to the borough.
